Upgrading Heavy Oils

Refineries need to achieve the maximum product potential:

Vertical centrifuges are able to clean liquid phases using centripetal forces generated by high speed rotation in a centrifuge. These are usually used on the oil phase after treatment through a horizontal centrifuge, but they can also be used to treat slurry oils to remove catalytic contamination. It is able to achieve oil with water and solids content of less than 0.5%. Refineries generate different streams of heavy oils from different refinery units. These streams could be contaminated with solids:

  • If stream is used in other units, the presence of solids could reduce yields.
  • If stream is used as final product, the presence of solids reduces its market value.

Examples of heavy oils contaminated with solids:

  • The slurry oil, a heavy aromatic oil, generated by the Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) could carry excess catalyst fines and other inert material.
  • The Coker Unit could generate heavy oil streams contaminated with coke fines in the blow down process.

Your solution includes fixed high speed centrifugation plants that are able to operate continuous treatment, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
